Crafts of the Oltrarno

Oltrarno, the other side (of the Arno) It is possible to relive the magnificent past of Florence not only through its historical and artistic heritage but also through everyday life. Here the bars, stores and workshops preserve an atmosphere of the old city. With the many artisans who are true heirs to traditional crafts, working methods and the down-to-earth spirit one can get the sense of what this famed city is like without the tourists.

Oltrarno with its time-honored crafts is a unique destination when visiting Florence. Gold and silver objects, artifacts made from wrought iron and bronze, hand-woven fabrics, wood carvings,
marbled papers all traditional materials and designs used in Florence for millennium and continuing even today.
Crafts of the Oltrarno

The tour begins with a stop at a workshop dedicated to the production of engravings and art prints. A master craftsman will welcome you in an exclusive setting. The tour then continues on to another craft shop which specializes in delicate handmade items working in silver and enamel. The visit will conclude at an artisan atelier famed for the world renowned Florentine marbled paper.
