Discovering the secrets of the Inferno of Dan Brown
Do you want to discover the mysteries of the Inferno by Dan Brown? Be enchanted by the places “visited” by the protagonists Robert Langdon and Sienna Brooks, exploring Florence and Venice.
The tour lasts one week and it allows:
• tour in the historic center of Florence, with a stop for an Italian coffee at Rivoire in the historical Piazza of the Signoria
• tour in the historic center of Venice, stopping to enjoy the famous Bellini at Harry’s Bar.
Get ready to immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the novel, starting from the Badia Fiorentina, where, as the legend says, Dante saw his beloved Beatrice for the first time. Nearby is the Museum of the Bargello with its stunning collection of Renaissance works and also one of the most famous museums in the world: the Uffizi Gallery, with masterpieces by Leonardo da Vinci and Sandro Botticelli.
Under the gaze of Michelangelo’s David in the Piazza of the Signoria you will have the opportunity to enter the historical Palazzo Vecchio visiting the Hall of 500, decorated with sculptures by Michelangelo and the cycle of paintings by Giorgio Vasari, in the fresco of the Battle of Marciano, left living memory of the earlier work of Leonardo da Vinci with the cryptic message “seek and ye shall find”. After a comfortable stop at the famous Rivoire, you will go towards the Oltrarno passing through the Boboli Gardens and the Pitti Palace until you get to Porta Romana dominated by the statue of Michelangelo Pistoletto, from which several scenic roads will bring you to the Florentine hills up to the Piazzale Michelangelo, from where you can admire the Florentine red roofs with a spectacular view of the city and the Arno river.
The center of the city offers endless surprises of the history of Florence in Dante’s time and of the glorious period of the Medici family, in a continuous and exciting discovery of secrets and places, under the bright sun of Tuscany.
From here you will set off to Venice that welcomes you with its outstanding view of the Grand Canal.
Impossible not to visit the Church of San Geremia, where the remains of Saint Lucia lie; a visit, which to the protagonists of the novel turns out to be crucial. Continuing on, you will reach the Rialto Bridge, an architectural symbol of the city, getting lost in the most ancient and mysterious face of Venice through the alleys leading to Piazza San Marco, near which is the famous Harry’s Bar, well-known for its Bellini. After this pleasant break, the journey continues to the Cathedral of San Marco, whose main entrance is dominated by the “Quadriga”, more commonly known as the horses of San Marco.
Leaving behind the square that meets the sea, you will come across the Ducal Palace, former residence of the Venetian Doge, and connected to the Bridge of Sights, so called for the prisoners’ sighs of pain of the prisons, as narrated by an ancient legend.
There will be, of course, the opportunity to admire the famous “masks of plague”, historically used by doctors to protect themselves for the epidemics, and mentioned by the author Dan Brown in his latest novel.
At night the lights of Venice light up the channel and its buildings, including the oldest Casino in the world.
